Wan link error

I'm having a problem with my ASG v8.103 where every few days my WAN link (cable modem) shows it's status as being up, but the state as up but the status as error and I have no internet connection.  Unfortunately when this happens the only way to correct it is to turn the interface off and back on again.  Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening or to have it automatically recover itself from this situation?

    dhcp if it used in ANY way... then yes it most likely the cause of Wan Failure.
    If your using non static ips then your cable modem company can change your ip when they want to. Just call them and ask renew/release when? 

    cmd>ipconfig/all check public ip

    Make sure if you use cable modem first.. make it completely pass through no firewall inspections on plastic junk. If you must use DHCP then put it on the back of your ip private lan list and limit the range to just what you need nothing more.
    And by all means never release IP if possible (static) and you should have no problems. I'm using ASG v8.103 almost flawlessly so she works fine.

    DHCP is where my money is on. Find it and KILL it forever and ye shall be happy. [:)] 
    When in doubt Static everything. DHCP IMO is low in the food chain but I understand why its used.
