  • This reminds of a story that happened in 2000 when i was working for a dotcom. We had to move office and the sysadmin guy took his server, which had an external UPS, and moved it to the other building while it was running
    The uptime of that machine (i think it was a Pentium I, running Novell Netware 3.1x) was about 960 days. The transport went well, but shortly after he crashed the machine while trying to unload the monitor.nlm

  • I read about a similar story regarding old-school Netware (Version 3.x as I recall)... at some university or college, they actually accidentally walled the box in during some renovations; they could see the node on the network, but could not physically locate it (it was buried in a wall space)... it ran for years and years until finally during another renovation they busted a hole in the wall and there it sat; still running.  Netware was pretty good stuff in their heyday.
