User Licensing steps

It's just how they do the licensing -- I find it fits most scenarios fine.  Another option is to purchase an Astaro Appliance, which is licensed for unlimited users.

Such steps between licensing levels isn't all that new; I recall that Novell NetWare used large licensing steps like that (it's been many years since I worked with it, it may have changed).

I think it would be a lot better if Astaro was to follow the lead of AntiVirus companies which use a band based licensing solution.  This could perhaps be used for the over 50 licensing, so that there could be a band between 50 and 100 and another between 101 and 250 and so on.  Users would purchase Astaro based upon the numbers of users they actually have within the applicable band.
The problem as pointed out by Subs above is a real one.  Why would someone who has 110 users want to purchase 250 licences?  It is not as if these are cheap to purchase, and when there is Web and Mail licensing as well the cost quickly escalates.

I think licensing is an area that could be improved, and in my experience, notably in the larger licensing numbers, one shoe does not fit all, and the choice of an appliance is not always acceptable.
