I upgraded my ASG120 from v6 to v7 (currently at v7.200) and it's just been a bad experience. The upgrade went smooth enough and I find it to be a much simpler system to administer, but it has some problems that are fairly big ones to me.
The first problem, and it's a biggie, is the POP3 Proxy doesn't filter spam at all. None. I figured out that the prefetch feature works, but not for filtering spam or AV. I turned it off and now I get a spam score on incoming e-mails which is always 0 even on the most obvious spam messages. I've restarted the system about a dozen times and only had it work once for about 10 minutes.
The next feature which worked better in v6 was content filtering. It works in version 7, but it seems like everything is uncategorized. I've been reading they switched to some other provider. They might want to consider switching back.
My last complaint is about support. All I can say is I'm not getting any. I have gold support. I didn't realize you have to go through the partner you purchased the system from until I got mad at the no response from tech support after the initial e-mail and read up on my agreement. Fine that was my bad, but at least they could have responded letting me know that after the 5th e-mail I sent asking for help.
When I purchased the Astaro system things were great. Support was awesome, the software worked like a dream. Everything was going great. Upgrade to v7 and my feelings are that when it comes time to renew I'll be junking Astaro and going with some other firewall system. This is just crap.
To be honest I was ready to live with some flaws in the pop3 and content filter area, but the disregard of the support staff is what has me heated. I have a problem and I get nothing from them. No reasonable help whatsoever.
My final thought. What works with the ASG120 v7 works well, but what doesn't... doesn't. Astaro needs a much better support system. At least one that does respond to request for help instead of just ignoring them.
