I used to run BPALogin on my ASL 4 box to support Telstra Bigpond Cablemodem user.

Telstra cable modem accounts require a "heartbeat" to be sent back to a server to keep the connection alive.  Without this the net connection is lost after a few minutes.

I just recently upgraded to v6 and the bpalogin program seg faults when I run it [:(]

I guess this is due to kernel compatibility.

What I'm wondering is... Could someone please download source and compile me a binary that will run on newest kernel in ASL 6?

    I used to use the BPA Client and in the long run I found it was lots easier to get a netgear or other firewall with the BPA built in (something like a rp614). I run the netgear as a border router it controls the bpa client and basic firewall filtering then I have my Astaro box behind the netgear. I found that installing the BPA Client and the amount of times that it gets broken with updates, it just wasn't worth it.
    From memory the install script worked, also look at comments at http://www.ish.com.au/astaro/docs/install/cable.php
    It should not make any difference what kernal you are using, it should install the same as on V4. Check directories after install to make sure it is being started propery.

    What would possiby be more useful to you would be the BPA in rpm package.

    ps If your interested I would be able to source an external fw with the bpa client and ship it to you.

    attached you will find the binary. Just remove the .pdf extension (UBB is picky).

    Please notice that I had no possibility to test it.

    Never had issue with BPALogin till now.

    Will try the binary supplied so kindly above and let everyone know how I get on.
