Channel bonding

Hi all.

Does anyone know if ASL supports channel bonding?

I'm still running ASL 5.2. I've searched the forum and documentations but no mention of channel bonding anywhere.

I have a RHFC3 running my mail, web, and other services and channel bonding is configured and active. It's an awesome feature which allows load balancing and fault tolerance.

A good sign that it may have is that ifenslave and mii-tool are both there... [:)]

I need a second opinion. Any ideas with Astaro?

    No, ASL doesn't support this yet.

    Ver 6 supports policy based routing which may help you, or not.

    Some people have munged it but I've never seen anyone get it working completely.

    It's been a requested feature for a while so fingers crossed for Ver 7 maybe?

    Thanks for the reply. I don't understand why ASL takes so long to implement channel bonding. Given the fact that it's much cheaper and simpler to implement than HA, I would think many ordinary user like myself would be attracted to ASL more just for that feature alone.

    I'm not complaining...I can wait for ASL 7 if that's what it takes... [;)]

    How can channel bonding replace HA? Channel bonding doubles the transferrate by using two networkcards for the same traffic. 100Mbit/s + 100Mbit/s = 200Mbit/s. That's all. If the machine crashes you still need HA to switch to the other one, don't you?

    I think he meant if you can do HA then you could do bonding [;)]
