Hello, ASL-users and experts!
We want to switch out internet connectivity from a permanent line (MCI/Worldcom Internet Dedicated) to a local cable network provider (it's faster and cheaper!). The point is now: we use 64 static public IP addresses .
At the moment we use a transfer network with 4 IP adresses which contains the router and the external network interface of our ASL box. Internal network interface is part of the 64-subnet and also the standard gateway for all boxes in the lan.
Is it possible to switch to the cabel network using a cable modem and ASL without having to deal with a transfer network again? The ASL box should connect directly to the cable modem using the external interface and to the LAN using the internal network interface. The internal interface would still be the standard gateway for all computers in our LAN.
I looked up the manual, but didn't find anything about cablemodems, only DSL is mentioned. Is it possible to install the scenario described here? When not, how can we get to a solution?
Many thanks in advance!
Marek
