The cost for the 50 IP version, with two years Up2Date is USD $1,195. I'm calling Astaro sales on your behalf to see what can be done to get some action on this for you.

Invariably software tariffs will cause a shift in price; although that's quite an eye-opener of a tariff! I have seen such disparities in hardware (good old protectionism, you know). Are you sure you're not forgetting some options that you asked for that he didn't figure into his quote??

In Japan, no tariffs charge on software license. I think that local agency (forval Creative inc.) monopolies ASL license sales in Japan, and they use invalid exchange rate. Probably, exchange rate they used was USD1 = JPY200, because the price they presented was JPY239000, but today's exchange rate is USD1 = JPY114.

Wow, what a price difference. I did in fact speak with Astaro sales for you, they said that Japan was handled out of Germany, and the info was relayed to Germany. I guess the next time one of my customers complains about the cost of Astaro, I'll suggest that they consider what it costs in Japan.
