V4 boot timeout not working

Hi,

I noticed that when rebooting the firewall, it waits in the boot prompt until the enter key is pressed. I edited the lilo.conf and set the timeout to 5 and commented out the prompt line, but the timeout never ends and the machine sits there waiting for an enter, even after the default 60 seconds.

Is there any way to avoid this and make the machine boot automatically after a few seconds?

    I think this has something to do with your machine and is not a 'special feature' of V4.
    I've never seen some behaviour like this and of course the firewall should reboot automatically ;-)

    Same here....Tried to reboot the system but it waited endlessly.
    Did not try to press Enter but after a hardware reset, the system booted normally.

    Its the same machine on which I had version 3.x
    I remember the same problem on the previous version and someone here suggested me how to correct this by editing lilo.conf
    I did the same now but its not working.

    Sure, firewalls should boot up immediately.

    I had this problem for a while and found it went away when I disabled BIOS boot sector virus protection.
