Content blocked with Surf Protection switched off

Hi,

I tested the Surf Protection and included the categorie finance.

After getting response from one client, that he couldn't reach the bank, I removed finance but he still cannot reach the bank.

Then I deactivated the filter. No success.
Then I removed all filter profiles. No Success.
Then I switched the HTTP-Proxy off and on, but he still gets the message:
"Content blocked ...."

What else can I do to remove the blocking?

did u clear the cache on the local machine? Internet Explorer has a nasty habit of caching the pages, not sure about other browsers.

thanks. It's the easyest things, that make you look for a long time. But I didn't think at the client's browser.

Btw, does anyone have a description, how SurfProtection works, how the blocked URLs are maintained and how often they are updated?
The online help and the manual give not much information.

As far as I understood from the Cobion description all URL requests are going through their server or some mirrors.

How does this effect speed of surfing?

Oliver,

no, for small users with low traffic I think it is unnoticable, but I try to understand the theory and wonder how it will work for large application with much traffic.

Do you have a mirror of the cobion site on your servers? Are there more servers in Europe or Germany?

You see, I'm just curious.

wk,

Astaro developed a special cache, which stores
once fetched information for a day - longer
wouldn't make sense because many of the indexed
pages move daily! The request is directed to
Astaro Servers, which are synchronized with Cobion databases.

I think even on large installation it will work
pretty fast!
