[8.940][MYTH] pgsql fails to start - "su: incorrect password"

Can't start or stop from command line.  Did a command line password reset to no avail.  Tried to force re-init of postgresql.conf, but got the password error.

I've kept this VM, so I can fire it up if any developer wants to look.  I created a new VM, imported the backup from last night and have no further problems.

  • I know this problem was caused by my machine losing power when the VM with UTM 9 running.  This has happened several times, and is easily fixed by reloading and restoring, but I wonder if this is normal.

How can I reset the password (which one? to what?) so I can see if that's the only problem?

    Cheers - Bob
