Hi,

just some first thoughts:
- are your internal domains correctly setup on the UTM? There have to be internal domains setup to match the senders.
- do your clients (senders) request SPX (SPX header set)?

From the pictures I can't see any problems so far, internal domains and SPX settings look OK.

SPX has to be requested by the mail sending client. This is done by setting a special header field:

X-Sophos-SPX-Encrypt: yes

For Outlook there is this plugin which sets the header, for Thunderbird one can set it by hand.

Besides that I don't have an idea right now.

Try enable debug logging for SMTP by sending a USR2 signal to the smtpd. In smtp-debug.log you then should see more, for example which profile was chosen. Maybe we'll find some hints there.

I think I reproduced the problem.
You are sending mails from one internal domain (profile 1) to an other internal domain (profile 2), right?
It seems there is no SPX done in this case, not sure if this is as it should be. I'll check.

I was using this as a test.
As above
My existing setup is:-
1x hosted (external mail server) with a domain name.
1x internal hosted (MS Exchange mail server) with a different domain name.

All internal email is sent to UTM via port 25.

All outgoing email is routed through UTM smarthost. port 587 and sent from hosted mail server (with account authentication).

So posting from one email domain to the other still goes out via the Internet.

I'll try some other email domain.

so, sending mails from a domain that is configured as internal domain in the UTM to another domain also configured as internal is not supported for SPX. It does not matter if one of these is routed through the internet.

Let me know if your SPX testing works with other recipient domains, or if you still have difficulties.

I have sent out a couple of emails to external people asking what they got, but I have had no response.
