[ANSWERED] CLI Features

Hello Everyone,

Can anyone help me on this one?
I will guess that the CLI is taken from Cyberoam.
So I take it some of you people already know it plenty.

I have some things I want to do over CLI:
Make Objects like Networks or Hosts, and edit objects
Make Firewall Policies, and change them

Because in the past I have noticed one fatal flaw when it comes to point and click. I had to edit 500 Objects, to suit our new naming scheme. I was working on that for nearly two days, because of UI latency.

HI,

Objects creation is not supported from CLI commands . CLI is helpful to do some advance configuration of systems and troubleshooting.

Was that administrative burden with ASG/UTM, Cyberoam or another product?

@snehagolhil
How "not supported" is CLI based management and object creation/manipulation expected to be?

Technically challenging (deliberately or not), (un)documented, warranty-voiding, and/or cease-and-desist generating?

HI ,

API is helpful to create multiple object creation in SF , API developments and documents are in development stage and should be available by GA to achieve the same.

@teched I was talking about UTM9 because I really noticed it there a lot.
With Copernicus it won't get better though as it seems

@snehagohil this seems a bit of a missed opportunity, because Sophos UTM in my opinion was always awesome for less knowledgeable people to administrate.
However to be really quick with deployment, this UI has never really been my favourite.
So a fully functional CLI would have been awesome

It isn't clear yet if on-system manipulation will, or will not, be possible.

The API has promise but may require more programming skills. It is imaginable that command-line tools may become available to facilitate some uses. A supported mechanism with public documentation will be an improvement.

The ASG and UTM have cc/confd-client.plx as well as a Perl Module - many of my forum posts relate to non-WebAdmin based manipulation of objects and configuration.

Just FYI, even Advanced Shell feature and ability to install OS on your own from ISO is a huge step toward unlocking the UTM, that wasn't supported by Cyberoam before Copernicus.

It appears some insight into the command line (menu and pseudo-shell) can be gathered from Cyberoam documentation like the "Cyberoam Console Guide.pdf"
