SBS 2011 Remote Web Workplace

I was going to ask the same question for SBS 2003 as I suspect the setup of the WAF will be almost the same.

How do you find SBS 2011?  I have the option to upgrade via software assurance, but am stuggling to come to terms with the amount of ram it needs.  I have read it ideally needs a minimum of 10GB [:O] which means new hardware to get it running.

What are the main differences from SBS 2003??

sbs 2k3 likes 3 to work right..sbs 2k8 really wants 8.  sbs 2k11 is going to want about 16 to really run well.  Honestly?  I do not recommended sbs for folks anymore.  Hit eccmd.com and hit the sbs section.  Also hit the windows section to see about ms latest raodmaps.  I would not buy ANYTHING right now because in 2012 the whole base stack of MS is going to be updated.  

right now the best place is to buy it through dell or hp.  I don't have access to it yet(i'm not a high level partner though) but it's amazing it's hard to find.  

Keep in mind sbs 2011 is based upon se3rver 2008 r2 which is already 2-3 years into it's primary lifecycle.  That primary lifecycle ends in 2013 for primary support.  wait for 2012 and get windows 8..[:)]

Through TechNet with the right subscription.  I'm not sure if it's available yet via your Software Assurance download privilege.  If you work via a Microsoft Partner, they might be able to get you a copy of the software for use via your SA.

It is not available to the partner portal until late 2Q.  Right now the only way to get it is either technet or though an OEM.

Sorry been meaning to post back here for a while.

I have my SBS installation at home and I downloaded it using my technet subscription.

It's ok, got some annoying bugs when trying to integrate with other MS applications
 eg.  Can only have Forefront Protection for Exchange OR Forefront Protection for Sharepoint installed.  There is no Forefront Protection for SBS that protects both.
 eg. If you install Forefront Protection for Exchange it will disable the SBS Content Filter, which will constantly tell you in the management console that it's disabled with a big red X.  This is irrelevant as the Forefront Protection for Exchange has it's own Content Filter enabled.
eg. It's 64-bit only and a memory hog (well, since it's a memory hog I can understand why it only runs on 64-bit O/S as you *need* more than 4Gb of RAM to run it.  I'm running it on 8Gb but minimum recommended is 16Gb and that's mostly because of the Exchange component.)

Don't have any exposure to SBS 2003 so can't comment on differences.

I never did get the Remote Web Workplace working properly, now looking at using the Astaro VPN option's available in order to get remote access to my site... but fighting with SSL now *sigh*
