[8.270][BUG][FIXED] all Logging popup windows stay empty

I had the same experience.  I believe this is a bug - why should a second reboot be required?  Here's the sequence I used:

1. Load from ISO.
2. Boot with 8.201 backup on USB key.

I don't have the infrastructure at home to test the new improvements and functionalities in this beta, so I probably will sit this beta out.

However, I agree with Bob, starting with 8.2, certain features don't initialize correctly after importing a backup without another reboot. The beauty of linux is its modular design. There should be no reason for a reboot no matter how many daemons are killed, started or restarted. We already had a rough launch of 8.2, lets make 8.3 right where everything initializes the first time, every time.

Kai indicated in 8.2 beta that if you have a complex configuration that you are importing, you might need a reboot for everything to initialize correctly. I believe that this is not the right direction to take. All daemons should start correctly and probably should be checked somehow automatically upon installation of a backup immediately instead of the admin rebooting just to make sure.

You'll be glad to hear that we fixed some of the stuff that caused hickups in previous 8.2xx releases, like eg. the famous Mantis ID 18219: "[UBB][8.170] SOCKS5 daemon restarts every hour".

Kai indicated in 8.2 beta that ... you might need a reboot ...

You're absolutely right, Bill. But sometimes the configuration is much more complex than the developers expected it to be. In such cases the automatic checks might fail and a reboot is the easiest way to fix this for the user (well, at least for those users who simply want a running system). Of course we want the ASG to behave well and start all services correctly, but (and this is especially true for a beta) sometimes a simple reboot helps.
