[8.270][BUG][FIXED] all Logging popup windows stay empty

Hi Robert,
could you please post more information regarding the way you have already used;  logging per ssh or Web Admin> Logging> View Logfile> Live Log...?

i logged in vie WebAdmin then just klicked on Network Security - Packetfilter - > LiveLog

did i forgott something?

I saw this as well Robert, but for me the issue resolved itself after an extra reboot.  See if this fixes the issue for you as well.

i will try this tonight, i have to reboot 3 clusters then ...

I had the same experience.  I believe this is a bug - why should a second reboot be required?  Here's the sequence I used:

1. Load from ISO.
2. Boot with 8.201 backup on USB key.

Do you have Wireless Security and Log Management enabled?

I have Log Management enabled.   Wireless Security is enabled, but there is no AP at present.

I don't have the infrastructure at home to test the new improvements and functionalities in this beta, so I probably will sit this beta out.

However, I agree with Bob, starting with 8.2, certain features don't initialize correctly after importing a backup without another reboot. The beauty of linux is its modular design. There should be no reason for a reboot no matter how many daemons are killed, started or restarted. We already had a rough launch of 8.2, lets make 8.3 right where everything initializes the first time, every time.

Kai indicated in 8.2 beta that if you have a complex configuration that you are importing, you might need a reboot for everything to initialize correctly. I believe that this is not the right direction to take. All daemons should start correctly and probably should be checked somehow automatically upon installation of a backup immediately instead of the admin rebooting just to make sure.

Bill, I've had a customer using the 8.260 alpha in production for the last month after running it on a lab machine for two weeks, so I've put 8.270 into production in our office (yes, I kept the 7.511 hard drive handy in case there's an emergeny [:)]).

From what I can tell, this beta is a combination of 8.203-style fixes plus some new stuff that's outside of everything we're currently using.  Net-net, if anyone with ASG software has issues with 8.20x, I'd suggest they consider moving to 8.270, preserving their older version hard drive in case of emergency. It seems really solid to me though.  Now, that doesn't mean I think anyone should just automatically upgrade to 8.280 when it arrives.
