Hi maygyver,

RFC 4291 allows upper and lower case characters. RFC 5952 section 4 recommends usage of only lowercase characters, so uppercase addresses are still valid...

RFC 5952 says.

4.3.  Lowercase



   The characters "a", "b", "c", "d", "e", and "f" in an IPv6 address

   MUST be represented in lowercase.
