[7.912][BUG][FIXED] Install Failure (appliance-hook, ASG120)

Going through the logs I see that you are trying to install the image using a Kingston flash drive. Unfortunately imaging via a flash drive will not work unless its an Astaro Smart Installer which mimics a USB CD-ROM. If you don't have a smart installer you will have to use a USB-CD-ROM.

Let me know if that works.

the kingston usb drive was added after the failure to save the log.
I am using a external usb DVD drive.
Ive used the same DVD drive to install v8 beta on my old ASG110 box.

Looking at the message log file, it looks to me like the installer cannot determin what type of box i have. Looks like a missmatch between mem,cpu and hdd model or something.

I just tested this on a Rev.3 here and it installed without issue. You're using 7.912 correct?

The messages log shows it is failing on detecting the HDD. The Rev.3 have Fujitsu drives and that's returning a value of 0 so the installer isn't seeing it as an appliance.

Have you tried installing V7 on it? Just curious if that sees it as an appliance.

What is the manufacturer date on your 120? It will be located on the bottom of the unit.

No need to reimage with V7. I tested this on 2 other units with different build dates than the 1st one I tested and V8 failed with the same log output as yours. V7 loads just fine.

The box was built in december 09.

I actually had the same error with the Astaro Smart Installer. Trying to install V8 (latest version) on the following hardware:

This should be fixed in the next release. There were some hardware-combinations missing in the installer for exactly those models of the ASG120.
