[7.911][NOTABUG][CLOSED] SSL Site-to-Site Speed Problem

Hi,

i have a strange Problem. I have a StS Tunnel with an Server.
When i transfer Data over the Tunnel, i get only a speed of about 1.7MBit/s
without Tunnel i get about 4.7MBit ... Same way, nearly same time for the connection.

What is going wrong? CPU Load is about 4% Any ideas?

Which kind of Site-to-Site VPN do you have? How do you measure performance? How often did you try?

Hi,

SSL Site to Site, UDP, 2048Bit Key, MD5, AES-256-CBC.
I made a SCP from server to server, over the tunnel and without tunnel.
yesterday more than 10 times ... so there is realy a difference, but no CPU load.

Well, SSL-VPN is build for ease-of-use, and not for the maximum of throughput. If you need more performance, try IPSec.

okay, thanks for the articel, i would understand your statement when the CPU load would get to the maximum, but it doesnt, as i wrote i have a cpu usage of 4% ?

Hmmm the speed shown in the dashboard, is it with SSL overhead or without? maybe that is the problem why it seems to be that "slow" ?

CPU speed isn't the limiting factor here. It's the circuitous route that make it slow down.

i just made a test with another connection, there i had 14,4MB/s ... so it's another problem ...
