[7.500][BUG][NOTABUG] Exeption in POP3 proxy after upgrade / Strange messages

Hi all,

just installed the 7.500 Up2date. After the reboot I received lots of mails via POP3 proxy that were previously quarantined as spam.

Additionally I got several mails like this one (which I never have seen before):


The POP3 proxy log contains the following two error entries: 

2009:09:18-17:57:16 astaro1 pop3proxy[4213]: Prefetch: Can't get account_info for account 1

2009:09:18-17:57:16 astaro1 pop3proxy[4213]: Prefetcher exception

    Hi,

    are only new mails affected by this problems or are this quarantined mails. It look like the prefetch was not working. Did you changed something before doing the up2date?

    Hi Andy,

    these were previously quarantined mails. New mails aren't affected, new spam is being quarantined at the moment.

    I didn't change anything, only installed the Up2date.

    Edit: I deleted an old VMware snapshot and created a new one before Up2date installation - but this shouldn't affect the ASG at all [;)]

    There were more exceptions logged:

    that's an interesting issue. I have set the following config to help me identify the error

    Keep database log for 15 days.
    Keep quarantined mail for 40 days.

    if this value is small (delete database/quarantine 5 days) then even if you are facing the issue you wont have any quarantined email to be released

    Hi,

    is the box "delete quarantined mails on server" ticked? I tried to reproduce it without success. I have following explanation for this behaviour. Pop3 is allowed over packetfilter, too. After the up2date the pop3 proxy was not running in the correct mode and the e-mail client recieved the mails directly from the pop3 account. Could you please check if you find one of the received "quarantined" mail in the mail manager or is the mail manager completely empty?

    1. "delete quarantined mails on server" is NOT ticked

    2. Yes, POP3 is allowed by packet filter

    3. After the up2date the pop3 proxy was not running in the correct mode and the e-mail client recieved the mails directly from the pop3 account. This sounds like a possible explanation for me, too.

    4. Could you please check if you find one of the received "quarantined" mail in the mail manager or is the mail manager completely empty? Yes I can find some of these mails in mail manager. Some of them are visible in the following screenshot.

    Hi Bastien,

    thanks for your reply. The pop3 proxy was not running in the right state and the E-Mail Client sent his request to fast. The pop3 proxy didn't pick up the connection and it was going over packetfilter. so the E-Mail Client get the spam messages because you don't ticked the box "delete quarantined" spam mails. To avoid this problem I advice to disable pop3 over packetfilter if the traffic should only pass the proxy.
