[7.460][BUG][CONFIRMED] Error while adding new DHCP mapping

Hi

If I click on new mapping for a given Mac Address line in DHCP lease and set datas... when I click on save I get a: 


You did not enter all required data, or one or more settings are syntactically invalid


check the attached screenshot..

what did I missed ?

    if I shut down the dhcp server I can add the static mapping but If I try to start the dhcp server I get: 


    Cannot apply changes:

    REMOTE: 5d34d33a-05b5-11db-8238-0014221e9eba

    IP 192.168.9.13 is used for more than one static DHCP mapping

    Please choose another IP.


    this is really strange... why did the dhcp behaviour changed ??? this is really usefull to be able to have same ip mapped to differents Mac address !!! (ie for a laptop which can be wired and/or wifi)

    I can confirm that !!!

    I'm no more able to start dhcp when there is 2 mac address for 1 IP !!! [:(]

    this will break all my asg setup !!!! Office, Data Center, Home... as I'm using it... and this is very very usefull to me... If I can't do this anymore with astaro, I will have to install a dedicated dhcp server which is not what I want !

    So please, please can you go back to the original behaviour ?

    do  u need to delete u r all static maps with same mac ?

    before creating new one
    (update --since log time i am looking at dhcp server but it seems they are giving different different error now )

    using a laptop some times wired and some times through wifi !!! this is a must have to me...

    I always use same name/same ip to access my laptops... also for any DNAT rules I don't need 2 rules eachtime... (when I'm on wired and when I'm on wifi)...

    I think it's an advantage for most people to have a way to protect against having two devices with the same IP, so I'm feeling like this is a fixed bug[;)]

    So, it sounds like you have made some network definitions like 'MyLaptop : 192.168.9.23/32'.  Why not use 'MyLaptop : 192.168.9.22/31' instead, and map those IPs to the two laptop MAC addresses?

    Just a thought...

    to me that was not a bug... this is something fully supported in stock dhcp-server... I was using this for longtime before Astaro, and was really happy that astaro was supporting this... so why removing this behaviour... ??

    The DHCP server in Windows Server 2003 refuses to allow a second reservation for an IP address. I really don't know that much about the theory and standards for DHCP.

    Only use I have seen of this is if you have licensing issues and are trying to limit your laptops etc using 1 license instead of 2 for home user license.

    Otherwise at work, we try to put all the wifi devices on seperate network to ease the administration overhead and can pinpoint problems faster since we know its wireless related and where to look for what. Most people just say my laptop is not working. We take the guess work out.

    I think Gert was pointing to this solution at one time for licensing problem. Maybe they have changed their minds since then. The link is here

    I'm having a bunch of problems with DHCP in 7.460... 

    I cannot delete ANY static mappings, and the error displayed shows the IP of ANOTHER mapping.
    Turns out the other mapping is a duplicate as I am doing something similar to the OP; two macs to the same IP (intentionally).
    Unfortunately, I cannot delete either of the OTHER mappings!

    I was able to delete a different old mapping (with a warning that it was still in use), but the other one I need to delete says
    Cannot apply changes:
    IP 192.168.11.15 is used for more than one static DHCP mapping
    Please choose another IP.


    The one I am trying to delete is NEXT TO the one with IP 11.15, and is mapped to a different IP (11.20).
    Also I cannot edit it.

    Also, I cannot create a new static mapping from the lease table.

    update:
    OK... I've deleted some old mappings, and now I can delete the duplicate and then delete .20, but this was seriously messed up.

    just FYI, 
    being able to map two different mac addresses to the same ip addres is a wanted behavior and a feature we added a while ago.

    ok good I prefer that [[[:)]]] ... then this is a bug in 7.460 ? [[[:)]]]

    this will be fixed in upcoming beta ? I'm using it on my home firewall... so this is really hummm... weird... ATM [[[:)]]]
