[7.386] Unable to Activate Windows

Hi,
you need to put the MS sites listed in the exception list.

Then you need to put some packet filter rules in place for each exception to allow the proxy bypass to get out. (there are sites in the network list already).

Do you really need to add packetfilter rules for proxy-exceptions? Isn't there a checkbox on the advanced tab below the "Transparent mode skiplist" that automatically does this?

Ian, I'm with DiePlage, it's not clear to me what packet filter rules might be required in which situations.

DiePlage, if the HTTP Proxy is not in the 'Transparent' mode, my understanding that you have to add the 'Exception' instead of using the skiplist.

Yes, I am aware that I need to add the site(s) to the exceptions list.  That was my original question... "What are those sites?"
 
Is it Activation.Microsoft.com?
Is it TurnOnMyWindows.microsoft.com?
 
Does anyone know which sites need to be added to the Exceptions list to allow the Online Activation of Windows?????

If you add microsoft.com, all subdomains will be covered.

you are possibly correct as far as transparent proxy goes, my comments are based on my setup which uses standard proxy.

There are a couple of other MS domains that are not covered by the generic url, things like update.microsoft.com etc.

Adding microsoft.com (not www.microsoft.com) would cover update.microsoft.com as well... right?
 
I guess I just need to modify the existing Microsoft Updates 'exception' to cover everything Microsoft.

I except everything for several providers of update services.  It's probably the AV, but I don't think there's much of a threat from microsoft and others.
