[7.280] Quarantine report sent out despite being disabled [CONFIRMED]

Hello all,

I didn't see this one posted so here goes.  I have 7.280 installed on a ASG 220 V2 and mainly using it for SMTP proxy.  I also have this integrated with Active Directory.  Everything seemed to be working okay but today 3 things came up.

1. For some reason today it decided to send out a quarantine report to everyone even though it is disabled.  

2.Someone mentioned the release link in the email didn't work that it just timed out so when I checked it out I noticed the link points to http://host.myfirewall.com:3840/***xx  Shouldn't this point to httpS://host.myfirewall.com:3840/***xx?  Anyways the link from the message doesn't work.

3. I showed the user how to connect to the user portal and check his quarantined messages from there but none of them showed up.  In fact there were no messages at all in there.  I logged on as the admin and checked the quarantined messages under mail manager for his account and there they were.

    which email adresses are assigned and stored in the user objects that logs in to the portal?

    Hi Gert,

    I'm not sure I follow the question but here goes.
    When we create a user account in AD we have a policy that creates certain aliases as well.  When the ASG connects with AD and syncs up it at first pulls the primary (default) email address but then when the user logs on to the portal for the first time it downloads all of the aliases in the additional email address fields.  The user object on the ASG is set to sync with AD.

    The quarantined email was actually sent to the primary (default) email address of the user object but the user doesn't see any messages when he logs into the portal.  I've noticed this with every account I checked so far.

    Our primary email address is always first_initial_last name@company.com i.e. kgiroux@company.com and then the aliases consists of the following

    first.last@domainA.com
    last.first@domainA.com
    first_last@domainA.com
    last_first@domainA.com
    first_initial_last name@domainB.com
    first_initial_last name@domainC.com

    thanks for the detailed anwser, can you please login with the user into the userportal and check if the relevant email addresses are listed in the first dropdown box?



    which email adresses are listed there?

    As these are the one's which the portal to find the matching email messages.

    Hi Gert,

    All of the user's email addresses are listed there in the drop down box.  I checked mine as well and the same thing.  They are all listed however it doesn't show anything in the Portal when we are logged in.  I logged in as admin and checked and I have at least 4 messages in quarantine.  

    For the sake of it I tried setting the address to my primary email as I knew this had messages in quarantine but as I suspected nothing.   I've attached a few screen shots so I hope they make it through.

    Hi Keith, 

    thanks for the screenshots, they were helpfull.
    I have a suspission that the user port compare's the email adresses case-sensitive.
    The email address in your user object has the email 'kgiroux@CeltCorp.com' and the email is all lowercase 'kgiroux@CeltCorp.com'.

    If that is the case, than it would be a bug.

    In order to verify this, can you please login to webadmin and edit the user object and set all email addresses to lowercase.

    After that, please try to login the userportal again and check if you can see the emails now.

    Hi Gert,

    I logged into the webadmin and changed the email addresses to all lower case and then logged into the user portal as my user account.  It still didn't show anything so I double checked my account in webadmin and it resynced with the back end AD and changed it back to capitals.  I went into AD Users and Computers and changed my email addresses to all lowercase there and then logged back into the user portal and I can now see the messages in quarantine so it does look to be case sensitive.

    I can confirm following:

    I'd had also some quarantined mails, but was not able to see them at the end user portal (the SMTP-Log was empty too). My mail address showed C.K****@****.**

    Then I've changed my mail addess at the AD to lower case c.k****@****.** and relogged on to the end user port. Ahhhh...all quarantined mails are there (and the SMTP-Log contains also data)

    So there is a problem with upper / lower case...

    A general question as we are on the subject: Can a user still setup on his/her own which email address he/she has? I found that feature before 7.3, but now it seems to be gone (I'm aware how the admin can set this up).
