Maybe this is a feature not a bug, but
if create a new site-to-site connection and leave the Name-Field empty, the connection will be created with random name like REF_zsrGFHHGFF
This behaviour is unchanged and already existed in V7.
The REF_foobar is the confd reference given to the newly created object. This happens everywhere you forget or deliberately omit an object name, e.g. in Definitions >> Network as well.
