ASL 3.030 Beta, isolinux boot error

I had no issues installing astaro from CD boot.  They said they have no plans to do any floppy boot.  if it helps one of the Beta 2 versions I was playing with gave me tons of errors on lower speed CD-roms.  Just check to see if you have a good speed reader

    Its an Aopen 40x

    IF it helps to change the cdrom drive I can change to a pioneer cd/dvd while installing. I think the cd bootet from this computer.

    Edit:
    I tried the cd on a p166 with 4x crate and it worked as well, I'll try moving this drive over and check if its cdrom or mainboard issue

    It didn't work it the computer I want to run asl on. Thus it seems to be an issue with the mainboard or something. 

    The mainboard is an Aopen AX56Pro, with K6-2 400 Mhz

    Does this mean the only way to install is to move the disk to a "working computer" and then move it back after install? Or could I make a lile/loadlin boot disk and use the bzimage and config from isolinux?

    Would something like 

    loadlin.exe d:\isolinux\bzImage vga=normal initrd=d:\isolinux\ramdisk load_ramdisk=1 root=/dev/ram0

    Work if loadlin was installed on a standard win9x boot disk and d: was the drive containing the asl cd?

    I got the setup running, but it halted right after selecting language.

    I also tried putting the drive into my home compuer when installing and then moving back, but as the network adepter was diffrent it didn't work.

    If anyone has any ideas at all, please speak  [;)] 
    After waiting several months for this release I'm quite dissapointed.

    I had a similar problem trying to boot the CD on an older IBM PC300.  My solution was to install ASL using a different PC and then put the hard drive in the IBM, boot, edit /etc/modules.conf and set up the proper aliases for your cards and the driver modules, reboot and viola!!  I just couldn't get the dhcp client to work....

    Isolinux may not work on some older hardware due to non-conformance with a certain instruction and the BIOS.   [:(]

    I don't think speed matters.  I tried it with an 8x and a 40x.  It's dependent on whether or not the system supports a certain BIOS call...at least that's my understanding.

    Ahh. yeah.. that should do, didn't think of it last night. Not thte best solution, but perhaps the only one :/

    The cdrom is 40x, it booted on a 4x on a p166.
    When I moved the 4x over to the asl computer it didn't boot, thus seem to be more like a mainboard issue or something.

    Hi all,

    we tested the on a K6/2 too - without any problem...
    Please post detailed hardware information if you have trouble to boot the CD, maybe we will find a solution...

    CD-rom Drive: Aopen 40x
    Ram: 64MB, not sure what brand
    Floppy: standard 1.44, not sure what brand
    Harddrive: 13.6GB, Western Digital.(Cavariar I think)
    Network adapters: 2xUnex PCI 10/100
    Display adapter: SIS something

    The error is:
    ISOLINUX 1.65 2001-12-15 isolinux: Failed to get sector size, assuming 0800
    isolinux: disk error 01, drive 9F
    Boot failed: press a key to retry
