Problem with DHCP server.

I've installed DHCP server on ASTARO 2.016. Client is abble to get IP address from DHCP server. But when I try to renew IP address on client, there is message "Could not locate DHCP server". In daemon log there are lines like " dhcpd: send_packet: Operation not permited. Any suggestions to solve the problem?

DHCP uses UDP as its transport protocol. DHCP messages from a client to a server are sent to the 'DHCP server' port (67), and DHCP messages from a server to a client are sent to the 'DHCP client' port (68).

My guess here is that you must add packet filtering fule for DHCP service according with RFC2131 [:)]

my packet filter rule look like " allow any service from any client to any server".

I don't think ANY includes the ASL box.
You'll probably need to define it or it's internal interface, and allow DHCP connections on that.

sorry for thinking of ASL as failure :-(
my suse7.3 doesn't connect to another sun either.
but sun and ASL ping very nice ... with same crossed cable...
ifconfig on SUSE-PC:
eth0 Link encap: Ethernet, HW-adresse xxx
     inet addr:192.168.1.10 Bcast 192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
     inet6 addr: fe80::2d0:9ff:fee9:a71/10 Scope:Link
     UP BROADCAST RUNNING MTU:1500 metric:1
     ....

can anyone see a mistake on this?
