Problem with DHCP server.

DHCP uses UDP as its transport protocol.  DHCP messages from a client to a server are sent to the 'DHCP server' port (67), and DHCP messages from a server to a client are sent to the 'DHCP client' port (68).


My guess here is that you must add packet filtering fule for DHCP service according with RFC2131  [:)]

my packet filter rule look like " allow any service from any client to any  server".

I don't think ANY includes the ASL box.
You'll probably need to define it or it's internal interface, and allow DHCP connections on that.

sorry for thinking of ASL as failure :-(
my suse7.3 doesn't connect to another sun either.
but sun and ASL ping very nice ... with same crossed cable...

hello,
trying to set up dhcp server on 3.031 with it's own packages it doesn't really work.
using a suse 7.3 live eval to test dhcp client it doesn't work for me .. 
anyone to know about this as ageneral problem?
