Slow PPTP

I've just set up 1.920 on a P2 350 w. 64Mb, and managed to get a W2k client connected from a dial-up ISP to our internal network via PPTP. I've noted the domain name problem, but my main problem is the speed - I've used MS VPN before, directly to a NT4 box and the speed of the ASL connection is substantially slower. Is my hardware too poor, is is this to be expected?

P.S. Any news on Protocol 47 passthrough?

    I just made a quick thoughput test to a similar machine here, and I get:



    so, there is some packet loss, but that is to be expected using flood ping.
    this is using 40Bit encryption to a Windows 2000 client. Which encryption setting do you use ?

    I've discovered that someone on the internal network was transferring about 4Gb via FTP over the last few days - when I kicked him off, performance increased to the level I'd expect.
