  • If you SSH into the firewall, press 5 for Device Management and then 3 for Advanced Shell.

/var/tslog/awarrenmta.log contains all the MTA Mode logging.

If your firewall rules are correct, then you can help diagnose the problem with your MTA Mode configuration using this log file.

The Web Interface is good for showing you information when MTA Mode is properly configured, but very useless for helping you diagnose a misconfiguration.

  • warning when i'm entering SSH:

NOTE: If not explicitly approved by Sophos support, any modifications
done through this option will void your support.

i will wait support for remote first before make any command in here.

  • Viewing files using cat and more and filtering them with grep and awk won't modify the configuration of the firewall.

It's when you start editing configuration files using the Advanced Shell that voids your support contract.

Remote support is a good option, but if you are comfortable using a shell on a Linux system and know what commands will and won't modify configuration files then you won't have any problems with support. Worst case is that you have to factory reset the firewall or perform a USB firmware upgrade to get it back to a known good state.
