Zotac CI547 Nano - only one NIC will be recognized

Dear Sophos Community

I have a Zotac CI547 Nano and tried to install the XG software. But only one NIC will be recognized. The firmware is up to date, but without ane effect. I have read that Sophos XG does not support two different NIC types (maybe Intel and Realtek are built in?).

Do you know if it's planned to support this type of Zotac boxes? If not, on which Zotac hardware do you run the XG software? Or is it possible to run the XG firewall inside an ESXi?

Regards from Switzerland.

Martin

  • Hi Martin,

the Zotac website doe not specify NIC types, but going on a number of consumer devices investigated the Intel NIC will more than likely be an i219v which is not supported by XG.

I you install esxi 6.5 or similar you should see both NICs.

  • Hi Ian

Thanks. I will try with ESXi. Do you have Sophos XG up and running in ESXi?

  • Hi Martin,

no I don't, I had the management XG running on esxi 5.5. I used the ISO build for software.

I currently have an esxi 6.5 which is not licenced or powered on at the moment, so I could try if you run into issues.

  • I can confirm it works under ESXi without issues currently, have a version of it running on a CI327Nano with ESXi, required an additional driver for ESXi to recognize the realtek NIC on the 327 but no issue then having XG running with ESXi, pushes over 200mbps traffic with the IPS features etc on
