Web Category shaping not working

This works when I put a traffic shaping policy directly on the rule, but it just doesn't work for web categories.

Any suggestions? One computer doing Windows updates just kill the network.

I'm using v17 MR1 and the problem still persists.

Have you tried utilizing application-based traffic shaping instead?
Windows Updates is a default category definition that is able to be configured with a rule.

I will test that out. This one is a bit of a pain as it doesn't happen often enough to reliably test.

WHat is the precedence of all the different shaping rules? Does an app rule take priority over a web rule?

I put a limit of 200KBps down and 20Kbps up on the Download Applications, File Transfer, and Software Update categories (Software Update includes Windows Update), and things are no better. Windows update still uses up all the link bandwidth and slows everything down to a crawl - citrix sessions freeze, other webpages take ages to load, etc.

Someone wrote that XG determines link bandwidth itself and gives fair bandwidth to each stream, but I'm really not seeing that.

Is there any plan to introduce SG style QoS? That would make this usable again.

Is there a way to see what application classification the download is getting? The Web Category is Information Technology, which is clearly incorrect, so maybe the Application Category is incorrect too?

Replying to my own question, Monitor & Analyze -> Diagnostics -> Connection List. Filter to find the connection you are interested in.

My Windows Downloads are showing up a application "ZIP File Download".
