XG 105 IP Address / gateway IP address confusion

Gabriel,

if you are swapping a firewall with another one, pay attention with mac-address and arp table. It can require even days before the same Ip address can be configured on the same appliance because router keep the mac-address until 2 days.

You should use the same configuration used on Sonicwall. Contact your ISP and ask for an arp-table reset.

I am installing a XG 105 on an unused IP. I tested the IP by connecting a computer and manually configuring the network and it works.  The XG105 is connected, looks like it is setup OK and I can ping and traceroute in diagnostics but the computer connected to it still does not have internet access.

make sure to create a LAN to WAN firewall rule where "match know users" checkbox is unchecked and try again.

Still not working!  I installed a Netgear router using the same WAN IP and it works then I set-up the Sophos in bridge mode and it works.  Next I set it up with DHCP and then again with a fixed IP on the WAN side and it still does not work.  Any more ideas?

I solved my problem! 

Under CONFIGURE/NETWORK/DHCP/Default DHCP Server/DNS Server check Use Device's DNS Settings.

Very frustrating and time consuming experience! I use SonicWall for my customers but I saw a SOPHOS presentation and liked the capability of integrating and managing firewalls and AV and the SSL VPN capability which can get expensive on the SonicWall. At this point I did not test the SSL VPN and am hopping to have a better experience than what I just had with the initial configuration.
