Want to Block Android/IPhones in Sophos XG (16.05.1)

Hi Team,

 

Actually, i want to block android/iphones in Sophos XG firewall i am using 16.05.1 version.Please guide is this possible? and how can we block only Mobiles Phones through XG Firewall.I search alot but did not find any solution related to my problem.

Please help.

    Hi Shahzad, 

    In any network device, how does one recognize if the traffic is from a phone, systems, tablets? For a network device, MAC address and IP address are taken into consideration while controlling the traffic through  any networking product.

    If you have found such feature on other firewall/gateway products please send me the reference sheet to that feature.

    You are writing in your Signature that you are a Sophos Network and Security Engineer and you did not know this thing.

    Anyways i am fully agree with Luk fortigate have a feature to block android devices.

    Ali,

    I am sure in Sophos they are considering to add this feature because Cloud is pressing and mobile and the APPs need to be managed properly, blocked, etc. I am sure Aditya had an oversigth!

    from your side, make sure to report back that we need feature to properly filter, block, manage mobile. Fortigate is a step ahead on that (at least 3 years). I have some Forti installation and they released a firmware which included this feature, so....

    Hi Shahzad,

    My mistake, It is true that it is feasible to get device info from X-ATT-DeviceId from the Get request. We can identify the vendor on Sophos AP . But as for XG its is a Feature Request. I shall add the document as a reference.
