XG-650 v1 vs XG-650 v2

Had to "upgrade" from XG-650v1 to XG-650v2, apparently the fiber interfaces changed names, on v1 they were PortBx, now they show up as PortEx. Restored from v1 backup, found out that what used to be MGMT1 is now assigned to PortE1, cannot bring up interfaces, cannot use the fine appliance...

Could anyone please confirm the above behavior?, worst case scenario, which I am not looking forward is start from scratch. Maybe someone knows how to reassign the interfaces from the console?

Thanks.

  • Remigio, using the console you should be able to change the ip for each port and get access to web interface where you can reassign interfaces properly.

  • Hi,

The menu driven interface only shows the configured interfaces, i.e. interface PortE1 is 10Gbps, nothing I did brought it up, ifconfig showed no link. Is there any other way to do it? (i.e. advanced shell?)

The appliance was originally configured as a bridge, copper ports were not in use. The original config on the v1 had the Mgmt port working, when I restored it on v2, the IP address was assigned to PortE1, so, no way to connect via the network and the MGMT port no longer shows up.

Anyway, since these are brand new appliances, I wiped them out, the 10Gbps port was now able to see the switch. I have the feeling I will have to start from scratch. Waiting to hear back from Sophos support.

    Thanks.

  • Remigio,

Did you try the option: system appliances_access enable, from console?

From advanced shell you can try to bring the bridge up using  the brctl command.
