WebAdministration doesnt show, doesnt load

I installed SW-SFOS 15.01.0-376 to Sophos UTM 110/120.

Device reboot after install.

I configuration on my computer static ip adddress. IP: 172.16.16.254, netmask: 24 (255.255.255.0) and gateway: 172.16.16.16

I connected ethernet cabel to my laptop and to sophos utm to port1 (eth0).

I wrote to google chrome: https://172.16.16.16:4444 and I clicked on enter on keyboard.

I waited long time but WebAdministration of Sophos doesn´t show.

Please, do you help me, how do I delete problem and how do I can see WebAdministration?

  • Hi Michal,

Could you check if the device received the traffic from your browser?

Steps: Access the console of the device via SSH,Telnet & Serial Connection and type the command before accessing the device via Web Admin.

    console>tcpdump 'port 4444 or port 443

    Access the webadmin console.

    Output:

  • I connected to device via SSH.

    Device wrote me:
    Port1, OUT: IP 172.16.16.16.4444 to 172.16.16.41.41952
    Port1, IN: IP 172.16.16.41.41952 to 172.16.16.16.4444
    Port1, OUT: IP 172.16.16.16.4444 to 172.16.16.41.41952

Can problem be in route table too?

  • Michael,

did you configure the DNS server from cli?

Also can you write here the LAN and WAN IP you are using?

    Thanks

  • I did configure DNS server via console.

Im using ip address: 172.16.16.0/24 on port1 and I have not WAN IP on Port2, because I don´t know how configure it.

  • Michael,

using the console (option 1 and then 1) you can configure the WAN IP.

Make sure lan and wan IP are in different subnets.

    Thanks

  • No,no, I dont use console (option1 and option1), because I can configuration lan port (Port1), but I can´t configuration wan port (Port2).

First I configuration port1 for lan. It is ok, ale if I wanna to change configuration for port2, I can´t change it.

If I change configuration on port1 I click on enter on keyboard. After Sophos wrote me in console:

    Network configuration of Ether port2

    Current IP address: (nothing)

    Current Netmask: 255.255.255.255

    Zone: WAN (WAN)

Changing IP Address of the device ... Done.

After I click enter on keyboard and show me menu again: Network configuration menu

  • Michael,

Send me pm . I would like to have a look at it.

  • I tried to install SFOS on the UTM 110/120 a few months ago, and found that the earlier version took a long time to load the web GUI, found this out by going into the CLI and checking what services had started, once it took over 15 minutes to load the entire SFOS into ram before it was working, but it was slow to respond.

Remember the ports are reversed when you load a Home version on the UTM 110/120 (they were on mine).

it may be that the hardware is not man enough to load the complete SFOS image into ram, as it only has 2Gb and is not upgrade it to anything bigger.

also If you have a router in front of it, port forward everything to the UTM.

(this old box I had is now a great paper weight!)

  • Hello all.

    My problem is a dead.
After I installed the lastest version of Sophos to my old Sophos hardware,
    So I have Port3 - WAN, Port4 - LAN and ports 1 with 2 are free.

Thank you very much for help and informations.
