Can you install the FREE Sophos XG FW onto a SG-125 Appliance?

Hi

 

Looking to pickup a used SG125 appliance locally, and want to know, can i install and properly run the free Sophos XG firewall on this device?

 

will it be powerful enough for a 100/100mbps ftth connection

    Buzurk,

    You can install on SG only SW version and not the hw ISO.

    For the performance it depends on which feature you are going to use.

    On google you can find XG sizing guide.

    For a true 100 mb you need an sg 210.

     -is the SW version available for DL, i assume this is he VM Image, SW-SFOS_16.05.5_MR-5-233?

    Should i be OK installing it? make a bootable USB i assume and boot the appliance up

     

     - Are you sure? i believe software image serves more purpose than just VM, and some other reading the SW image can be successfully installed on the SG appliance.
