Access From Internet

Greetings,

I just installed the XG-210 and all went pretty smooth. However, I can't ping my firewall from the Internet.

I have not done any configuration yet other that the network interfaces. I can browse and ping to the Internet from the LAN.

I can ping my gateway xx.xx.xx.177 from the internet but I can't ping my firewall xx.xx.xx.178.

I checked the default rules and it seems like I should be able to ping. Just to be safe, I added another rule that clearly accepts ping, icmp from all interfaces.

Is there some setting I'm missing or could it be my ISP causing the problem?

  • Hi Ibrahim,

I believe you can enable PING on the WAN interface by navigating in the Sophos Admin web interface to System -> Administration -> Device Access. Using the grid, enable the PING/PING6 radial box and apply.

I've tested it on a production unit, where I could not PING initially, but could after using the steps above. I immediately disabled it again, as we have no need to have ping accessible, but I believe that should work.

    Many thanks,
