MTA no longer starts in XG 16.01.2

Basically, problem boils down to this:

Probably related, in <email> tab <mail spool> I do have a single message in queue , but I'm unable to delete it
"Few of the selected Emails could not be deleted because they are being resent"

I already tried toggling between Avira and Sophos AV.

Any hints welcome

  • I have not but I got my customer hooked up with Level 2 Support and they could not make heads or tails of the issue... MTA just randomly dying.  They decided to "shotgun" it and issued a RMA for the appliance (XG210, about a year old), and when he replaced it today (restoring the config from the old box) it worked fine.  Support did not suggest reloading the box.. said it must be bad hardware.  I found that hard to believe as everything else on this box worked fine (using all the features except RED and Site to Site VPN) -- but either way it is resolved.  I wouldn't be surprised if a reload from ISO and restore of config would be a fix.  Something got corrupted somewhere...
