If I make the router behind my firewall go in and out of the bridged xg will it be easier to see why I can't get past a layer 3 hop?

HI B.R.O,
In a way yes, if you could use the diagnostic tools and Tcpdump to capture the traffic and since the XG is between Gateway and ISP router it should show only a traffic related to WAN Interface address and the ISP gateway. For advanced troubleshooting, you could use Wireshark to check the packets contents .

Hi BRO ,
That would be difficult unless if you have 2 free ports and bridge those interfaces . You may connect your WAN interface of your router and the other end the ISP router.
This should help you , but 2 ports would be required .
