Scheduling updates how to

Hello Everyone,

in the past I have had experience with UTM but I'm a newbie with XG.

My scenario: 1 XG125w plus 1 AP15. Yesterday my AP received a wireless protection update during working time and all the clients were disconnected.

Is there a way to scheduling all update like in utm?

Best regards

  • Malachite,

at the moment this feature is not available. Hope it will come soon.

AP firmware on XG is managed bu Pattern Update and without a user interaction, RED & AP Firmware are not updated. Make sure no one has installed the pattern.

I am using AP 10 at home and without pushing the install firmware under Pattern TAB, the AP will not receive the new firmware.

    Regards

  • Thank you for the reply but I don't understand whats actually happens.

In my logviewer I see these tree lines

but in the "Pattern Update" tab the last successful update for the AP firmware is 11:57:33, Jan 31 2017.

    Why this difference?

  • Sorry but the line of the red update is a mistake

  • Malachite,

I think that updating the red firmware, you have updated even the wireless AP built-in. I am not sure about that (I never tried) and it does not make sense because RED Firmware should update only the "red code" while AP will update only the AP code.

Maybe with Red that comes with built-in Wi-Fi the situation is different.

, can you explain this updated behaviour?

    Thanks

  • H Malacite,

Turn off the Auto Update option in the System> Backup & Firmware> Pattern Updates> Auto Update > OFF. Rest of the pattern update are manual as you can see in the screenshot there is an install button to initiate the installation. Even in the Firmware section, XG will check for an update manually.

    Thanks

  • what you are saying is not correct!

I have Automatically pattern updates (every 2 hours) and RED & AP are not automatically updated (which make sense and we love this feature), however here Malachite is asking for something different, he update the RED and even built-in AP was upgraded.

  • Hi Luk,

Ahan, I understand it now, I was having an image that there are 2 separate devices; AP & a RED. REDw firmware consists of the AP pattern as a conjunct part of RED in whole. After the pattern updates, RED reboots, which will by default disconnect the client. I am still curious to learn if upgrading separately is possible in a way I cannot think of right now. Raise it in the ideas section and let us see what happens.

    Thanks
