Change Port of VLAN from Port1 to PortF1

I have a VLAN, currently on Port1. Now I connected my XGS-126 to my switch using glass fibre. However, under Network/VLAN I cannot edit the Port#

Which selection of the configuration should be exported? Would it be sufficient to export just the VLAN part? I think that I also should include the DHCPServer as I need to delete the existing VLAN (and this will the existing DHCP server of the VLAN). Are there additional selections to be made. Or are there additional changes to be made.

  • You could do VLAN + the checkbox "Include dependent entity".

This export will be huge, as this includes a lot of objects.

Then change everything via notepad ++ and unbind the interface.

Next step to upload the new file.

As always: Do a backup first!

  •  What do you exactly mean with unbind the  interface?

    I did the following:

    • Exported the extended VLAN
    • Changed all "Port1" entries to "PortF1".
    • Deleted my VLAN interface
    • Imported the new configuration

The result is that the VLAN DHCP server (including all fixed IP addresses) is lost.

Should I include more in the export? Or is unbinding not equal to deletion of the VLAN?

  • Did you check the Box above?

  • You should exclude the DHCP Server as well. This will make sure, the Configuration is in there for sure.

  •  I think you mean I shoudl Include it. I will restore my bakcup and give it a try (it are to many entries to enter manually).

  •  as side effect i can not connect using OpenVPM to the sytem (Remote access SSL VPN)

  • Check the log of VPN if anything changed in your config.

  •  Relatively new to Sophos.

    Do you mean this log?

This is on the OpenVPN client:

I monitored during import. During creation of the interfaces I can connect. After creation of the VLAN I can still connect. However I can not connect after the VLAN DHCP server is created. The VPN connection should be to the main network so changes in the VLAN should not have any impact.

  • To change the port of a VLAN from Port1 to PortF1, you will need to access your network switch's configuration settings. The exact steps to do this may vary depending on the specific switch you are using, but the general process is as follows:

    1. Connect to your network switch using a console cable or through a web-based interface.
    2. Locate the VLAN configuration settings for the VLAN you want to modify.
    3. Look for the option to modify the ports associated with the VLAN.
    4. Remove Port1 from the list of ports associated with the VLAN.
    5. Add PortF1 to the list of ports associated with the VLAN.
    6. Save your changes and exit the configuration settings.

After making these changes, any devices connected to PortF1 should now be included in the specified VLAN, and devices previously connected to Port1 will no longer be included in the VLAN. It's important to note that changing VLAN settings can impact network performance and connectivity, so it's important to thoroughly test any changes before implementing them in a production environment.
