Sophos XGS WAN Renew Issues

I had an DHCP renew issue at a site today, but I have seen it at others. This one annoys me because I had to drive an hour to the site.

Sophos XGS 87 fed on WAN by FIOS ONT ethernet. Fios rebooted the ONT, because that is what their automated system does when you call in. Lost remote connectivity. Drove in and the WAN interface shows connected with a DHCP IP. Unplugged/plugged the WAN ethernet, no dice. Went into the WAN interface and hit save. It's back. Like I said this is not the first time and I have seen it elsewhere where I have Sophos products. Searching the forums it seems not to be an isolated issue.

Is there not a way that if it can't ping 8.8.8.8 after X seconds force a renew on the WAN?

I will recommend you to please reach out to your local Sales Representatives Account Manager/Sales Engineer to have this further discussed so that they can enter this request into our system. 

    Additionally, you can also use the in-product feedback in the Sophos Firewall located in the Top Menu Bar.

    This should not be a feature request it should have been an automatic inclusion considering the number of historical posts on the subject.

Unfortunately, for now, the only thing that we can advise is to reach out to your local Sophos contact (Sales Representative/ Account Manager/ Sophos Partner) to push and generate a feature request so that they can share it with our product teams.

    While I don't understand exactly what the heck is exactly happening, I don't see how this is a feature request.  It appears when the ISP recycles the connection  the WAN holds the old DHCP settings. This is a bug.

    A watchdog timer...i.e. a ping, passive DNS, etc. that renews the DHCP when it can't connect would be a feature that should be standard.
