Sophos SFOS 19.0.1 MR-1 dont want update to new firmware

I have Sophos XG (SFOS 19.0.1 MR-1-Build365) installed on Proxmox instance.

Cant update to new firmware version: SFOS 19.0.2 MR2-Build472

After logging popup window appear encouraging me to upgrade to new firmware, but when I click upgrade button nothing happens - just nothing as if it was "empty" button'. Next time i downloaded firmware from sophos central and tried upload firmware directly (SW-19.0.2_MR-2.SFW-472.sig) by sophos->backup and firmware->upload firmware. But again when i choose a file and press button "upgrade and boot" nothing happens. No information, no clue, no new popup, nothing. So if someone could point me to right direction...what to do.

  • The problem is caused by little space on /var foder. I checked out what take space there and it was mainly (in my case) csc.log, avd.log, ips.log in /var/tslog folder. After deleting these files,  i got circa 700MB additional disk space. Upgrade to new firmware (SFOS 19.5.1 MR-1-Build278) was successful this time  (removed files was recreated).

Im using sophos home version for personal use, and it wasnt problem for me to make some experiments.

ps. Before deleting log files, I tried "purge" option in reports in web gui, and shell commands itself, but it didnt free up to much space, and mentioned files was still intact. In my opinion "purge' option should indeed "purge'  every log, but it dont.

From my perspective problem is solved, and everything seems to work properly as before.

  • You will run into this issue the next upgrade, as the situation is the still the same, your size is not correct.
