XG Home interface issues

I switched from UTM 9.x to the (for me) new XG Home.

Its an old PC working under UTM perfect with

- 2x 1port 1Gb Cards (cant remember from which company, nothing on the cards)

- 1x 4port 1Gb Card HP NC364T

Now, after installing XG Home, the boot screen shows (see below):

Total number of interfaces: 6

but i cant connect to the firewall on any port, doesn’t matter which card.

Only if i remove the 4port card i can connect to the firewall, just want know if its the Intel problem?

be irritated because the Boot screen shows correct number of interfaces.

  •    thx for the great advice with CLI and ethtool, used both never before

    my hardware:
    slot1 - PCIE 1x
    slot2 - PCIE 1x
    slot3 - PCIE 16x
    slot4 - PCI

    card1 - PCIE 1x1GBit - no name
    card2 - PCIE 1x1GBit - no name
    card3 - PCIE 4port 1Gb Card HP NC364T
    card4 - PCI 1x1GBit - no name

Configuration 1 - all installed cards are connectable
    slot1 - card1
    slot2 - card2
    slot4 - card4

    Configuration 2 - only card3 is connectable
    slot1 - card1
    slot2 - card2
    slot3 - card3
    slot4 - card4

    Configuration 3 - card2, card3 and card4 are connectable
    slot1 - card2
    slot2 - card1
    slot3 - card3
    slot4 - card4

    never found out without ethtool

web interface shows all time all installed interfaces, but they are only connectable as shown above

configuration 2 worked on UTM9 without problems, nothing changed on hardware, but on XG problems shown above.

  • I suspect an installation problem. Because the system is not build to "hot plug" Interfaces like that (if there are not Flexi Ports). So maybe in your full stack, you could try to reinstall SFOS and check once again, if the full setup is connectable.

  • Same result on new installations, seems make no difference between installed while installation or later for my installation.

    I use now configartion 3.

    Thx all for help!
