Firmware Upgrade from v17.5 to v19

Hi,

We have an XG125 that has been forgotten to be upgraded in terms of firmware. Now that the license is about to expire we plan on renewing it and together with that upgrade the firmware - finally https://19216811.cam/.

But wanted to ask everyone's opinion on how to make the upgrade as 'painless' as possible. As well as what issues to expect along the way.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

    Are AP's an issue? (This is posted in the Wireless discussion group.) Someone recently posted something in the Firewall group about going from 17.5 to 19, but I can't remember if they got any feedback. Personally, I'd say that if Sophos says that's an OK upgrade path (i.e. not going to 18.5 first) then try it. But it is a fairly large leap. Sorry I don't have anything more concrete to add.

    If the XG125 manages APs, I've been very satisfied with switching my AP to Sophos Central and that's one less potential problem when you upgrade the firewall.

    Prior the upgrade you can always check and verify, upgrade information, release notes, etc. : https://docs.sophos.com/releasenotes/index.html?productGroupID=nsg&productID=xg&versionID=19.0

    And as a good practice, always backup current running configuration and OS and allot window hours for the upgrade as it would require downtime.
