Hello
I have struggled for a while with this. And all while having serious network issues with Comcast. I have Comcast and AT&T as ISPs - and for background, I have forced their Internet cable modems / routers to have a base IP address in the 172.16.16.x range (e.g. 16.1 for one and 16.181 for another). My goal was keeping them in the same subnet as my whole network to allow my wife to easily move cables around if the network has issues while I'm traveling.
Oddly even with a factory refresh on my home XG Firewall running on an Intel server I have (which worked fine for two years) - but I cannot find what I did to prevent this from working OTHER THAN perhaps SOPHOS will not allow the Internet connections to be in the same range.
The beginning videos for the hardware based XG suggests the Internet connection be in the 10.0.x.x range while of course SOPHOS builds around its 172.16.16.16 network.
I can go through the setup scripts but it fails registration. It will at times with the Wizard see the Gateway address (172.16.16.1) - usually but doesn't always fail the DNS but NEVER allows registration to go through. When I ignore this and do it after setup I can ping the interface (Port 4 for example) 172.16.16.102 on the physical interface for Port 4 - but NEVER will it ping the gateway IP 172.16.16.1.
Does it matter which port I use for the Internet connection? (e.g. hardware based says Port 1 = LAN and port 2 = primary WAN)
Does it matter what the IP address is for the ISP as long as it is not inside of the DHCP pool that SOPHOS is going to manage?
Or is this possibly my ignorance in version 19 - even though the factory reset doesn't seem to give me the ability to do this on re-installation.
Many thanks
