  • Hello Vivek,

please read the presented MR-1 release date here - https://community.sophos.com/sophos-xg-firewall/b/blog/posts/faqs-sophos-firewall-v19-mr1-adds-support-requirement-for-future-firmware-upgrades

You really can't meet the deadline presented to you?!? I think it says more and more about your capabilities and ability to develop your security products.

  • The key point in your post is: Planned.

Schedules and plans can differ. Essentially Blocker come up in Q/A Processes.

Essentially a Bug Fix release should be tested and if there is a blocker, it will be delayed.

I dont know, how this is a bad behavior?

  • Hello Lucar Toni,

please read my post again! I didn't write about your bad behavior, I wrote that you are not able to keep the deadlines presented by you for the release of new versions or corrections of current versions.

I think this is the problem that is being solved in this thread.

P.S. I think that "Schedules and plans" are identical in meaning, but in the case of Sophos they lack any meaning, which you permanently confirm....

  • Nobody is speaking about Deadlines? Sophos is speaking about a planned release cycle. And plans can be postponed or delayed by anything.

Sometimes it could be a legal concern. Sometimes it is a blocker/bug. Sometimes it is a infrastructure issue.

There are several different factors in place to release something like a firmware. And nobody is talking about a deadline. It is always a plan to hit a certain day. But if one factor does not give you a green light, you have to respin the process and redo certain things. Create a new build, redo those steps etc.

    Looking at your post:

Currently planned for July 19, 2022, the soft release of Sophos Firewall OS (SFOS) v19 MR1, will introduce some changes to the scope of our support licensing and future access to firmware upgrades.

Maybe i am missing the part about Deadline, but i am quite sure, nobody is talking about Deadlines and always about Plans.

  • Hello LuCar Toni,

yes, you're right, I used the wrong term "deadlines", but somehow you're trying to backtrack again that Sophos didn't meet the original "plan" for the release of MR-1 and that's still the problem that's being solved in this thread.

    alda

P.S. I hereby end this fruitless discussion again because we have not solved the original problem again, as many times in the past. Disappointed

  • I do not understand your point. What is the outcome of point? Sophos will not post any plans dates anymore, as there are users upset of not meeting. Instead you will move to "end of the months" or "Q2". You can do this as well and that is what most companies do.

By getting a date, this is actually a very good example of commitment to get something pushed out. If there is a blocker, the date will be delayed, but the product will be shipped soon.

  • This is the first time that I can remember Sophos actually publishing a date, usually the month or even a week in the month has been the standard.

The published date with this proposed released looked like a commitment, not a guess.

  • Hi LuCar,

I see you posting a lot on the forums and often it looks like you are arguing with the community instead of trying to understand the frustrations that come with bugs that take months to solve.

I think you should try take a step back and understand what customers deal with before you take such a hard stance on your point.

    Thanks,

    Sean

  • Which bugs do you refer to? Because most of the issues, customers are seeing are dealt with hotfixes by Support or other workarounds.

I am not aware of an open issues, which is there for months without any workaround or hotfix available.

  • A recent one that comes to mind is the password bug on Sophos Connect which was only recently resolved after pretty much a year and months after SSL VPN was even already EOL
