Get firmware version from backup file

Is there a way to get the firmware version that the backup file was created from, if I have the encryption key?

For example, we've had a nightmare restoring backups if the firmware version does not match, and aside from adding the firewalls to Central/SFM etc, I'd like to be able to get the firmware version the firewall was on when the backup was taken - I have the encryption key.

  • In theory this is possible. The file is encrypted and you could decrypt it by using the same. But what is the use case? You should keep Up2Date and if you do a disaster recovery, use the newest version as ISO.
