XG installation issue on Intel NUC Compute Element

I have reviewed the nuc configuration and can see the issue, one the nics is not supported by XG, the i219 series.

Thanks for the update Ian.  It looked like such a great solution, clean compact and silent.  Could you please point me towards the referenced documentation?  The general documentation merely states "2 NICs"...

I copied the part number then did an online search for it.

From what I gather the i219-LM is considered "consumer-grade" by Sophos, which strikes me as odd since the XG is supposed to be able to run on "the spare PC" in the corner.  Oh well, the search continues for a small platform to run on...

The XG software is aimed at spare hardware but with specific requirements, the home use is with the aim of promoting the product in front of potential buyers and marketing statistics.

What you haven't advised is your link speed and the number of devices, not that the device count matters that much. I currently run a 50/20 link with about 40 devices on 5 LANs using both IP4 and IPv6, 40 odd rules, a number of my own policies. My CPU usage is very low and memory sits around 55%. The box has been on line for over 50 days since last restart.

I have a backup box which has a celeron and it is very slow. I changed back to the Xeon because the updating process for configuration changes was way too slow. The box's throughput is fine.

There are number of manufacturers of small low power boxes, but they use fairly old CPUs then there are some newer ones running i3s and i5s.

The marketing strategy makes sense, hence my looking into a small, silent and rugged device.  The issue I have is that when one looks at the marketing blurb (refer to Free Home Firewall | Sophos Home Firewall) there is nothing about specific hardware requirements other than "Intel compatible computer with dual network interfaces".  In a previous post "Hardware compatibility list? - Discussions - Sophos (XG) Firewall - Sophos Community" the Sophos Global Community Manager, Support & Services states "Unfortunately there isn't an available list regarding this, however as long as your hardware is Intel and has dual network interfaces, you shouldn't experience any issues." with the assumption that the list referenced is a typical Hardware Compatibility List.  

I actually have and tested an old (circa 2006 Celeron PC with 4GB) machine that ran the XG without any hitches and quite fast I might add, but then I do not have as many devices nor as many rules.  

No, that is documented somewhere. There is list of compatible components though I have never seen it.

I expect a search of the kbas would find it.

Update - I searched for the HCL, don't bother it is not much use.
