is the traffic going through web proxy? if yes, analyse what URLs are accessed during chat usage. Then check in the live log viewer if these requests are with or without active scanning exceptions. If without, wou would need to create exclusions for these URL. I think this should be all to fix it.

I think Skype Chat may not be Category "Skype".

Also, your Exception List looks incomplete.

Does Skype work from your network to external hotsts?

Maybe Skype Chat is peer to peer in your network and somewhere blocked by firewall.

check this and search for skype:

Yes, I tried that and it doesn't work either by removing the "Skype" category.

The Skype user that appears in the screenshot is connected from an external connection and it works correctly if I send messages but the ones I have sent from the network that goes through Sophos do not reach him.

I also created a rule in the firewall opening ports 443 and 80 (HTTP and HTTPS service) without success.

I have looked in the application filters and there is no rule blocking Skype services. I have also created a rule to enable Skype services.

I don't know what to do next, I find it strange that this hasn't happened to more people.

have you created the 80/443 test rule without Web Filtering enabled? I think this is not working because some traffic beeing SSL scanned .

Yes, it was disabled. I enabled it with "Allow All" filtering and it still doesn't work.

and you're sure, that you not not have this traffic blocked in one of the other log files?

if you allow 80/443 for the test client outside, can you confirm, it is really not going through the web filter by checking the web filter log while you open some web sites? This should not produce new log files.

Also have you followed this and this ports open?
